A Weekend Among the Curated
RWAH Confections -RWAH Confections had the privilege of participating in Boutique Fairs 2024 Gifting Edition. Spanning two storeys, Boutiques is one of Singapore's most thoughtfully curated fairs that is held biannually. It has consistently been a space where local craftsmanship, and excellence are not only celebrated, but expected.
To us, being selected was in itself already an affirmation. More than just another marketplace, Boutiques is a gathering of shared values. It is attention to detail, cultural richness, and an appreciation for things made with care.
The days leading up to the event were a whirlwind of stress, unpredictability and exhilaration. We hadn’t quite realised we’d signed up for what felt like a mini marathon, and by the time we had completed our booth setup, we were already spent.
So the four days of the fair that followed were fuelled by a heady cocktail of adrenaline and dopamine. We shared our confections with guests who lingered over texture, flavour and stories, who asked thoughtful questions, and who understood without needing it over-explained what we do at RWAH. It’s not every day we meet so many kindred spirits face-to-face.
On the first day of the fair, a powerful-looking woman with blonde hair came by our booth. We didn’t know who she was, and welcomed her like any other guest. She tried our Gingersnaps, said very little, and bought three tins without hesitation.
About five minutes later, she returned. This time, she reintroduced herself as the founder of the fair. She said, “I'm not saying this just to be nice, but this (referring to the Gingersnaps) is really, really good. I'm excited for you. You're doing a good job.”
The weight of her words landed in a way that felt almost seismic. It's hard to explain. That moment has stayed with us since, not only because of who she is, but perhaps also because of the genuine warmth that came through when she said those words. We felt seen and encouraged. We thanked her, sincerely.
This interaction reminded us that nothing is too small. Her words were succinct yet heartfelt. And our confections —even in small batches, crafted with quiet insistence on quality and meaning— can be seen and felt by those who receive them.
We left the fair with tired feet, emptied carton boxes, and a deep rejuvenation of spirit.
